INTERVIEW TIPS

Many companies will ask you behavioral type questions in an interview.  These are when a company is trying to predict your future performance in a position by looking at the behaviors you exhibited in a past similar situation.  The best way to approach these is to use the STAR method when structuring your response.  Focus on:

  • S – situation

  • T – task

  • A – action

  • R – results

You should also be prepared to answer common questions such as:

Tell me about yourself?

What is your top strength?

What is your greatest weakness?

What is your management style?

What strategies do you use when dealing with difficult people or situations?

Why are you interested in leaving your current position?

Why did you leave all of you last positions?

What is a project you worked on that didn't go quite as planned?  How did you deal with the situation?

To do your best on all of these common questions, take the time to go through your answers before the interview.  A little bit of extra preparation will go a long way in making you feel comfortable and putting your best foot forward.
